In recent years, the interest of the scientific community has focused on the 2 most important carotenoids: lutein and zeaxanthin, as an increasing amount of evidence demonstrates the beneficial effect of their consumption (especially lutein) in maintaining normal vision with increasing age.
Lutein is a yellow-colored carotenoid, which is not manufactured by the body and for this reason must be obtained through diet or nutritional supplements. Like all carotenoids, lutein is a powerful antioxidant, helping to neutralize free radicals.
This biological role of lutein is particularly important, since lutein is found in high concentrations in the macula. The macula is the part of the retina responsible for detailed vision. In addition to the antioxidant Bti, lutein also acts as a natural filter of ultraviolet radiation, protecting the macula.
Eyewise provides 10mg of lutein (pure, free form) per tablet, making our product one of the strongest on the market. It also contains a titrated extract of bilberry, grapeseed and blackberry which have strong antioxidant properties, especially for the eye.
